Returning To Hearts

Returning to hearts where the seed of remorse never sprouted is, in truth, an act of mocking one’s own wounds. Those who never paused to reflect on their transgressions do not change simply because they are forgiven; instead, by widening existing fissures, they demonstrate that your return grants them the license to inflict further cruelty rather than an opportunity for reform. Relationships are forged through empathy, and returning to a place where empathy has died becomes the greatest folly one can commit against oneself.
