Do People Really Change

Understand that the real game is not about change, but about revelation. People often remain exactly who they were from the very beginning; it is simply that we are slow to perceive their true nature. Why? Because we live in a world of hope, desire, longing, and the beautiful illusions we have created ourselves. Initially, we fail to see a person's flaws—or we deliberately overlook them. Later, when those very flaws begin to hurt us, we label it as "changing." The reality? That person hasn't changed; the self-imposed veil has simply been lifted from your eyes. Certain signs are present in a person's character from the very start: disjointed remarks, unnecessary outbursts of anger, slight indifference, or a tone that shifts the moment there is a benefit to be gained. We often ignore these things, blinded by our own emotions. Yet, time eventually screams the truth, revealing what we failed to hear earlier due to a lack of understanding or a tender heart. So remember... people do not change overnight. Our insight awakens late, and when it does, it reveals one of two things: either the person was always that way, or we had simply misread them. Few people actually change... Far more simply drop their masks.
